The Vatikan - July 2nd, 2006
Holy hell, that was a great night.
The final night of the Vatikan's existence. We're gonna miss the place.
Sure it was dank, and smelled like catpiss and underarm and everything
that went there came back vaguely sticky for some reason, but it was OURS
OK, it wasn't literally ours, but it was definitely home. As a band, we
cut our teeth there and they were always really good to us, so it felt great
to give the old place a send-off like that.
It was also the 3rd annual Toronto-goth tribute night, so it wasn't a normal
concert. Instead, a rotating lineup of various local (and not so local) band
members got up there and played Ministry songs for a couple of hours.
We rocked out with our collective cock out along with members of
Hypofixx,
Perdition,
New Love Army,
Sangsara,
A Random Exit,
Delica,
MDM and
Defence Mechanism
and it was awesome. Especially the "We Are the World"
style singalong for "Everyday is Halloween".
Also, I still say that the drums for "Flashback" sound like "Walkin' on
Sunshine".
Now I'm just wondering what's going to happen with the Davros chair in the
basement.
Many thanks to Steven for making this happen, to all the bands involved,
to Ms. Reznor and Doug for always being awesome, and of course to Lance
and Johnny for giving us all a place to play for the last two Years.
