CLOISTERBOT

Listen to Cloisterbot Part 2 here.

The Story:

In an early off-world colony, a roboticist, one of the first settlers on Europa, believes he has made the greatest discovery of his lifetime. He believes that Jesus Christ is sending him secret messages via the coding he uses to program the colony's robots. He is, of course, quite mad.

Self-ostracised and growing increasingly paranoid since the death of his wife during childbirth, he has spent all of his free time locked away in his lab working on his discovery and growing ever more resentful toward his son. He has become convinced that Christ wants to be downloaded into a robot, but needs an organic brain to live in. He arranges for an unfortunate accident to befall his son. He then attempts to install his son's brain in an old medical droid. The installation fails completely, but he is so delusional that he thinks it was a complete success. He then downloads and installs Christ's info into the robot. This does nothing, but again, he believes that it does.

The roboticist then unveils his creation for the rest of the colony to see. Skeptical and amused at first, many people begin to believe after the robot goes amongst the people, healing light wounds as it did just like it did during it's previous life as a medical droid.

Some of the colonists are desperate enough to believe that the robot is actually the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. They worship it and start a new religion around it.

The roboticist is not pleased with this, as the robot is getting the acceptance and attention that it's creator intended for himself.

He attempts in vain to explain to the worshippers that their god is his creation. They label him a blasphemer and a heretic and cast him farther out of their society.

Insanely jealous, the roboticist attacks and destroys his creation, invoking the wrath of the robot's followers. He flees from the angry mob, taking the rotting brain with him. He hides in an airlock, installing the brain in the safety mechanism in the hopes that his son will override all controls to the airlock so that he will be safe inside. This, of course, doesn't work and when he is discovered they open the outer airlock door, blowing the roboticist to his death on the surface of Europa.

Part 1: Intro

Jupiter on the horizon
omnipresent in the sky
Europa's terraformation
is underway but far to go

Distant domes of cities covered
as protection from the
poison atmosphere's corossiveness
that humans are working to change

Leading edge technology
on the edge of human dreams

Through a window, a blue glow
a face lit by a computer
monitor screen see a roboticist
sit in a darkened lab

Ideas taking shape.
Thinks he's found salvation

Robot in the corner in the
shadows standing silently
and pictures over the computer
of a woman and a boy

Looking close you can sense
desperation in the air

Part 2: The Delusion and the Plan

All these night working in my lab alone
Here in this wasteland and inside this dome
Technology all that keeps us alive
had few friends on Earth and none here inside

They whisper
and laugh at me
behind my back
think I don't see
they'll be sorry
they won't laugh
when all my work
pays off at last

When I bring him into this world
they will love me
They will bow down in front of me
When I bring him into this world
they will worship
me and give up their lives for me

When I bring him into this world
they will owe me
they will bow down in front of me
When I bring him into this world
they will love me
They will open their hearts to me

In their eyes I am not on solid ground
I can't tell them what I know I have found
Christ in the coding, he'd speaking to me
Jesus needs my help. He want to be free.

They will believe what they're told to.

They will bow to me.
They will worship me.

Inside my robot, the brain of my son
my lord I will input, they'll merge into one
He will return as technology
He will live again.
He will set me free

When I bring him into this world
he will owe me
he is the lord he will provide
pussy and cash, power and flash
he will worship me and rewards will
come to me

I'll take of
his body
like I did
before he died.
his second
coming will
not be 'till
after mine

When I bring him into this world
he will owe me.
He is the lord he will provide
pussy and cash, power and flash
he will worship
me and give up his life for me

When I bring him into this world
he will owew me.
He is the lord he will provide
pussy and cash, power and flash
he will worship
me and rewards will come to me

Part 3: The Immaculate Misconception

Often people need to believe in something
desperate and alone, they will cling
to anything

They will believe what they're told to

They believe what they want to
because of fear and insecurity
They'd rather opt for comfort
than for factuality

They will believe what they're told to.

The robot's miracles
are easily explained
But his followers ignore the facts
and they worship anyway.
They don't think to question
because they want to believe
in the father and the son
and the soulless machine

They will believe what they're told to.

Part 4: Truth Revealed and Denied

You are what I wanted to be
I made you and you turned on me
What you have belongs to me
You were trapped and I set you free.

Don't you know I made you?
Don't you know I built you?
Don't you know I made you?
Don't you know I own you?

Your followers don't know about me
they don't know the truth aboout me
I am the one who set you free
So I should be their deity.

They don't know I made you.
They don't know I built you.
They don't know I made you.
They don't know I own you.

You should bow to me.
You should worship me.
They should bow to me.
They should worship me.

Only a god can make another god.
And a god is what you have become.
I am your creator.
You are a product of my toil.
And that makes me a god.
I am your god.

They should know the truth.
Inside you is the proof.
I must show the proof.
So i must destroy you.

Part 5: Airlock

I sit alone
Wondering where I went wrong
There's nothing left out there for me.

In my airlock.
No going forward or back.
Is this how the end will be?

They can't find me here.
They can't reach me here.

I wait alone.
The brain of my son installed
in the lock will protect me.

In my airlock.
No going forward or back.
Is this how the end will be?

They can't touch me here.
They can't reach me here.
